Traditional teaching

- focus only on the language, never on the learner.
- expect you to absorb information instinctively, in a child-like way, not taking into consideration that adults learn in a different way.
- never teach you HOW to learn and retain new grammar and vocabulary in order to retain and apply it. You are expected to figure it out.
- develop your passive language skills (reading and listening) before your active skills (speaking and writing), slowing down your overall progress.
- treat the language as an end in itself, and teach it as if it where just about memorising a bunch of words and grammar rules.
- almost never take into consideration the transformational and identitary aspect of learning Italian.

- We focus on the student's experience, not just the language.
- We take into consideration the neurological and psycholinguistic aspects of adult language learning. These aspects are integrated into our programs and activities.

- We make sure you develop your language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking simultaneously. We also consider THINKING an active language skill.
- We see the language as a communication tool, a means to an end, and not an end goal in itself. Because that is how your brain perceives it.
- We recognise that learning Italian means acquiring a new linguistic and cultural identity. It's a transformational experience, and needs to be treated as such!
